Sheila is not honest about her fears, and she can be considered by some to be a bit rude or bossy. The book contains some degrading comments, such as dumb, stupid, chicken, brat, and idiot.

Public Opinion: This book is very popular among children, as well as adults who wish to partake in a bit of nostalgia of a childhood favorite. According to Pulishers Weekly, "It's hard to imagine any child (or parent) who wouldn't enjoy this absolute lark of a book... in which the author makes her point without a single preachy word."
